Teeter Hang Ups Fitness Equipment Review – Does It Work?

teeter hang ups inversion tableI’ve been a regular user of Teeter Hang Ups fitness equipment for several months now. Since I learned a great deal about their inversion table (and have experienced many benefits from it), I decided to put together a detailed Teeter Hang Ups review for anyone looking to buy this product.

In this article I’m going to discuss how the Teeter Hang Ups Inversion table works, how it has helped my back pain, what pros and cons it has, and what other think of this device. Finally, I will provide a link at the end of my article on where you can buy the Teeter Hang Ups inversion table for the best price online.

What is the Teeter Hang Ups Inversion Table?

The Teeter Hang Ups EP-560 inversion table is basically a type of fitness equipment that helps strengthen the back and treat back pain. Although it has been around for almost 30 years, it has received increasing attention over the past 2 years as an effective way of treating back pain.

The principle behind Teeter may seem a little bit odd, but its actually quite simply. Basically the user lies down on the table (or bed), locks there ankles into the leg locks, and then inverts the table. The user can control what degree of inversion they want, whether it be a gradual 20 degrees or a sharp 90 degrees of inversion.

What Is Inversion Therapy?

710gofGAbsL._SL1500_By inverting the position of the body, the user is basically undergoing “inversion therapy”. By inverting the body like this, you are basically reversing the effects of gravity on the body for a short period of time. Rather having gravity push down from your head to your feet, you are allowing gravity to push down from your feet to your head. This allows the spine to decompress and the muscles to completely stretch out in the opposite direction.

This ultimately relieves a huge amount of pressure on your back and allows you to achieve a complete stretch. People suffering from various forms of back pain can gain a lot from inversion therapy.

My Experiences Using The Teeter Hang Ups Fitness Equipment

acupuncture nodesBefore using the Teeter Hang Ups EP-560, I regularly experienced lower back pain. It got so band that at night time, sometimes I would be kept awake all night, tossing and turning, and trying to find the “best” position to sleep in to avoid back pain. Often times I would just sleep on the floor because that seemed to be the best position for me.

However, when I friend of mine recommended the Teeter Hang Ups fitness equipment to help with my back pain I was immediately interested. I had heard of inversion therapy before, but wasn’t sure which inversion table to buy. After reading a number of glowing Teeter Hang Ups inversion table reviews, I decided the EP-560 was the right model for me.

After spending about 45 minutes assembling the Teeter (the company claims it should only take 13 minutes), I was eager to give it a try. So I read the instruction manual briefly and then strapped myself in. I liked how comfortable the leg locks were and I felt very secure as I angled the table to around 20 degree.

Now I did feel a bit uncomfortable at first, probably because I was not used to inversion therapy. But after about 5 minutes of oscillating back and forth between various angles (as recommended in the user manual) it felt as if a huge load had been lifted from my back. It didn’t happen immediately, but gradually my back felt less tight.

The First Week of Usage

The whole first week I used the Teeter Hang Ups every day. After the first day I was already experiencing a huge improvement in my back pain. It wasn’t gone entirely but it definitely wasn’t as bad as it used to be. If I used it before going to bed, I was able to sleep almost entirely through the night without having to adjust my sleep position endlessly.

Eventually I got up to about 60 degrees of inversion, which is what Teeter recommends for “full decompression”. And let me tell you, at 60 degrees of inversion you are going to be feeling all kinds of goodness on your back. 5 minutes there and I was able to go most of the day without feeling that gnawing pain in my lower back.

teeter lumbar bridgeThe lumbar bridge and acupuncture nodes were slightly uncomfortable to use at first, but I felt them making a difference. The nodes do a pretty good job massaging sore areas on your back. The lumbar bridge helps you achieve a greater stretch for your lower back. I generally only use them a couple times a week, as they can get a bit uncomfortable after a while.

My Final Thoughts:

Although some may not be inclined to call the Teeter Hang Ups “fitness equipment” in my mind it really is. Not only does it help improve back pain, it helps strengthen your back and core muscles.

Inversion therapy really should be a really activity for most people, regardless of whether they suffer from back pain or not. But as a back pain sufferer myself, I would not go more than a couple days without using the Teeter Hang Ups. It has really made that much of an impact on my back.

If you suffer from any form of back pain, you should really give the Teeter a try.

Pros:

  • Helps alleviate muscle and back pain through inversion therapy
  • lumbar bridge and acupuncture nodes are great ways to massage and stretch the muscles
  • Extremely solid and secure design (uses steel walls)

Cons:

  • lumbar bridge and acupuncture nodes can become slightly uncomfortable if used too frequently
  • assembly takes much longer than advertised (for me anyways!)

Conclusion – Is Teeter Hang Ups Fitness Equipment Right For You?

If you a person who is currently suffering from any form of back pain, you really should invest in the Teeter Hang Ups inversion table. It is the most solidly built inversion table on the market and is backed by a 5 year warranty.

If you’ve never tried inversion therapy you will be blown away by the results you get from this thing. It truly is one of the most remarkable ways of alleviating tension on your back and reducing (or eliminating) back pain. There is no need to continue to suffer from your back pain.
